Seems like yesterday was the release of the name of next chapter. I didnt watch the episode my self but it seems like the name is “The Boiling Rock” and will air next Friday (Jan 18th).

To make an episode of avatar actually takes about 9 months, they usually make about 5 episodes at a time, don’t be little children and be patient. How dare nickalodean? How about they cancel the show right now? If you think about how long the breaks were between episodes when the show first started you wouldn’t be so upset seeing as the western air temple and episodes after that were scheduled to start playing in May.

Why don’t you do some research into how long it takes then? A simpson episode takes about a few months for a group of animators to make + you’ve revisions + misc overhead and time delays.

One must also keep in mind that the creators must work out the story, make revisions, ensure that the bending properly imitates the martial arts style it is depicted after, record voices, go through the proper channels to get it aired, etc. While nine months does sound incredibly ridiculous, they certainly can’t do it in one week.

The episodes were already all finished. They’ve been working on season 3 at least since they started airing season 2.
And they showed a clip in the season 3 preview with Firelord Ozai throwing a HUGE fire blast at Aang. Hmm.. Did they make that clip just for the preview? I don’t think so.
They’ve finished the third season. There’s no way they didn’t. Also, the airing of episodes has nothing to do with the writer’s strike either.

I think you are all a little to upset over a television show, just be patient and the episodes will come. As for those who don’t know how long it takes to make an episode, while I wasn’t able to find an answer specifically for avatar I did find one for Blue’ Clues, a Nick Jr show http://www.nickjr.com/shows/blue/blues_clues_faq.jhtml they report 10 months to make a single episode. It seems so natural that it wouldn’t take a long time to draw 20 minutes of cartoon but it does. If they have all the episodes made then I don’t know why they aren’t showing them, maybe they haven’t finished all the episodes, like the last 3 or 4 and want to bring them all out one after another and not have this period of nothing in between them. This is the last season of avatar: the last airbender so if you are this upset about a lull in the episodes then I don’t know what you are going to do once it’s over, although the creators reported that they will be making a new show in the world avatar is set in.

I don’t care how long it takes to make an episode or whether the next episode is going to be released in a month. I would just like to be “WELL” informed about the release of the next episode. Is that too much to ask for?? I am not a child (although i feel like one at heart) and dont have the time to stay tune on nick to watch out for some avatar news. Only if nick was to give out the proper information and stop switching the dates like if they where unwanted tv channels…. I think that’s the least they owe us obssessive fans.

The reason they’ve been updating sites (especially Nick) with fake dates, is to make you tune in for it. You guys, it’s all about RATINGS!!! The schedule says avatar but instead it’s an episode of sponge-bob or something else. It’s all a ploy to have you turn to their channel and hopefully stay on and tune in. We’re just little pawns to their game.

Forget about this 9+ months to make one episode nonsense, anyone can do the math:53 episodes aired 9 months each 53 X 9 = 477 months into 12 months a year=39 years and 9 months, i don’t even think the producers are that old. and then if they make 5 episodes at once that would mean it takes 9 months for 5 episodes which breaks down to 9 divided by 5 =1.8 months an episode. now that sounds realistic and you don’t have to be a Mathematician to figure that out.
As for nick, it is wrong and actually against the law to Advertise a falsehood, once can be a mistake, twice a Coincidence, three times its now Intentional. It is a wonderful thing they have given us, pretty much at no cost to us, which we all appreciate. They can play with our emotions with the storyline, which is why we are here in the first place however this bait and swith game only goes so far and people tire of the nonsence and lose intreset in what they were here for in the first place. one of the golden rules our world has forgotten long ago…”honesty is the best policy” all we ask is for some respect and to be told the truth, if we have to wait, we will. lies are just the breeding ground for anger and distrust.
Its ironic how a show whose core is deep in positive philosophy has brought about all this negativity, giving the yin to its yang i guess.

You people are hilarious….and obviously none of you are animators.
I’m as frustrated as anyone about the delay, but some of you need to get your facts straight.
1- The writers strike does not effect the animation industry. Writers guild is separate from the Animators guild.
2- To make a 22 min animation takes a lot of work. Especially one as well done as Avatar.
Once the animation characters are designed, writers do the script and storyboard artist visualizes what the director others artists are gonna use as a reference. Voices, music and sounds are recorded beforehand and animators use them to sync the drawings. They do the lip-sync of the characters and the timing for the character actions. In Avatar they also spend a lot of time figuring out the martial arts scenes. Meanwhile other artists work in the color drawings that will be placed on the background.
After many tests, everything is ready for ink and color.
After they got all the elements, they edit the clips, voices and music and sound effects together and the chapter is finished.
This process could take several months depending of the cartoon and team size, but usually vary from 1 to 9 months.
For every 1 minute of film (24 frames per second) the animator must to draw 1,440 frames. 10 minutes of film takes 14,400 frames, and so on. Thats a lot of drawing…even for a team of 30 people. Good luck JERRY doing that in 3 days!
3- And finally, I have a friend who does the captioning for the show and they’ve done the next three shows already… Nick has at least the next 3 episodes, but for some reason they are holding them. Who knows why??…its wack and they should inform the fans why, but with a little patience we’ll find out soon.

I can see why you guys are frustrated, but remember that the quality of the product is so incredibly high that it is worth waiting for them to do a good job. Apparently they’ve been done for a while and Nick is sitting on the episodes, which just tells me that they want to stick to shows in their common range of audience. Because let’s face it, kids ages 8-12 are probably not going to want to watch a highly philosophical martial arts epic. I think that they just need to sell the rights to cartoon network’s Adult Swim so they can run it on the Saturday action block. I think that Nick was simply the wrong choice to air a show of this level, nothing wrong with Nick it’s just that they have established a younger audience and it seems that they want to stick to it.

Well, it takes two weeks to do an episode of south park. That is only because of the advancement in technology. I think nick knows that the avatar is ending and i heard sometime ago on TV that the spongebob creator wants to end that series also, oh yeah and the littleist spears and her lil problems im sure is not helping their image. Oh and Dragon Fire, they are keeping Jamie Lynn Spears. They seem a little desperate to continue in mediocrity since they are unable to release their good shows for unknown reasons.

And I think BRANT hit it right on. There isn’t anything wrong with Nick, they’re good…but I think they may have bit off more than they could chew. Avatar has a huge fan following, and has gone beyond being just a ‘kids show’. They may just be dealing with weighing their options.

actually in one of the bonus features on the first Book Michel Dante Dimartino said that it takes tham 9 months to complete an episode from beginning to end. They probably do a couple simultaneously. But the 9 months time-frame comes from the co-creator himself. You need to own Book I DVD collection to watch this bonus questions and answers series.

I do a bit of video editing.. probably during 9 months they have several different departments to work with it. for example drawing the animation/ creating the character then it’s transferred to diff department , eg. animating , refine the animation, or ad effects, or compositing …—> move to next department –> render …> etc… when it’s sent to other department the prev department probably work on the next episode ,that way it’s like a loop…
So it’s possible if they finish 1 episode in 9 months.. but i’m pretty sure during that 9 months because they have different department/ team.. they would probably do several episode.

I think we’ve all established the fact that it takes a while to make an episode, and I think that what nick is doing is in fact wrong, am i wrong or isnt it just false advertising? Wow, alot of you guys are dumb, it takes 9 months because it is drawn here in America, shipped to korea, and then shipped back. While that is happening all of the voiceactors have to come to the studio and record. Then it has to get edited, the actors have to come back to the studio and make up the verses that don’t match, and then it has to get edited again to make it all fit into the puny 24 minutes of airtime nick gives it.

Folks let’s get one thing straight, it’s all about five letters M-O-N-E-Y advertizing Avatar is comming on, on a friday night gets all you salavating little idiots to tune in for the first five minutes of another retarded spongebob episode, so the market share of thier Neilsen rating will go through the roof for that time spot. Then they go to thier sponsors and say “see our rating is so good for that time segment even when we don’t have a prime show on we do so well that you should pay us more MONEY for that time spot”! once they’ve maxed out the earning potential for that spot, then they will air the shows.OOOR… they’re saving them for sweeps week to maximize thier earning potential.. OOOR… the company who produces Avatar is shaking down Nick for more MONEY… OOOR… While the animators are a diffrent union than the writers they still have writers, who we already know are asking for more MONEY….

Avatar is different than most shows, including the martial arts and everything. To plan the fighting scenes and the rest of the script does take time. But they’re not stupid. They don’t waste their time. They probably work on more than one episode at a time because they KNOW that it takes a while to make one. They know what they’re doing and Nick is just being weird. I’m not sure why they’re not airing it but I think when we start seeing the COMMERCIAL for it we’ll know.

it takes a while to make an episode and most of us are teens here who don’t mind a bit of violence and philosophy but this was first made for the kids. they have to make it possible so everybody will happy. especially the martial arts in the fight scenes and relationships because we have high expectations.

lol im reading some pretty funny stuff here. “how dare nick keep me waiting, worst service ever, blah blah blah whine whine whine”. a service is by definition something you get in return as a result of payment. you may pay for general cable but your not paying for the entire cable package just to watch avatar the last airbender. especially considering they get no direct proceeds from you to present you with their television show. they make money off advertisements. secondly, they can either take their time and present everyone with high quality animation and production or they can rush crap and you can get junk which when considering the patience level of some of these people, would undoubtedly be unsatistfactory also. bottom line, the world doesnt revolve around you. hell, television definatly doesnt revolve around you. you dont like the wait? then dont wait. there is enough stuff of tv to keep you entertained from week to week. and if theres not? then your spending waaaaaay too much time in front of the tube and you need to get off your ass and do something else. and finally, does it really matter if you know whats taking everything this long? either way it airs when it airs and you spend the exact same time waiting.

The Boiling Rock hasnt aired yet. You cant find it anywhere on the web. The only way, I guess is to break into the animation studio and steal it, along with some black mailing, but of course none of us want to do that.

The best thing to do is to just check every so often on episode guides and maybe by some miracle it will begin earlier than what ive found out.
the next 5 episodes including boiling rock part 1 and 2 will come out on may 6
you can preorder sets from amazon etc. look it up.
find another AMAZING (because clearly avatar is) tv show and watch that for the time being….personally im not going to stop watching avatar…
just gets me more anxious

AHAHA. Avatar is far too kid-based to make it onto Adult Swim. Here what I’m saying? It’s a kids show. Adult Swim is not a kids program. The animation is quite good, but the story is formulaic, you can guess the endings of episodes from a mile away, the life lessons are all about “being yourself” and “learning from others” and it really appears to be an average, yet entertaining, kids show.
Avatar on Adult Swim? I would stop watching Adult Swim if they ran a program that was so obviously unsuited for it.

I believe they will air it in april. I just started watching avatar and am all caught up and looking for the most recent episode. My friend told me that on each season, there is a 3 month break in the middle. So skip Jan, Feb, and Mar, it will be in April. Even though my friend told me this, i sill look every friday for episode 14. But I just wish that Nick and enough people that an episode would be on everyday. That would be awsome, though almost impossible.

Second of all let me tel ya’ll a secret. Here it is:
Nickelodeon is not airing this because they want to enjoy the money they make on merchandising. they realize that even when they come with new books after this season… the income will still plummet. And now it’s at an all time high… they keep exploiting it (read: staling the release of the next episode).
The writers strike or whatever has NOTHING to do with this all. It’s all commerce. In fact, the episodes are ready, so are most of the episodes for the new book and so is the new avatar movie.
Keep your chins up lads. Everything will come.

Does the movie have any story related to the tv show? Or, if there is going to be 4th season (where i believe Aang will teach the Air Nomads air bending or something like that), is it going just a plain movie with it’s own story? I really don’t know why there would be a Book 4: Air, because Aang basically has got the air bending down.

the reason why we stopped the airing of avatar chap 14 is because we are in debt because the more people who airs it on the net the more money we lose which means we have to sell some of our resources just to keep avatar running up and working.
we are trying to stop it from being aired on the net so we can make money and get avatar back on track so please be patient because.during this time we also had to fire some people cause of our money and could not afford to pay them.
so please help us stop airing it on the net so we can get it back on tv for the enjoyment of our viewers …..

Ya i don’t think they would just cancle the season half way through, because a lot of people like this show, and it would be pointless to cancle it.
I hope previews to the movie come out soon! I also can’t wait till the official movie website opens up. Then you can see the characters in it. But, i have no doubt the movie would be good. People would have worked too hard to make a movie. I mean, not many tv shows get thier own movie. Thats how popular avatar is. There is nothing to worry about. Everything will come in time, its just that you have to wait forever to get there.

Ok so I have just a few things the say. To the person claiming to be the writer. The language and the way it is writen speaks of someone who is fairly young. The fact that nothing was capalized was somthing I, personally noticed as strange.
As for the episodes not getting aired, and what not. Personally I think that the writer’s strike here, which has just ended, would have had something to do with it. Even if Avatar was not effected, it could very well have been their way of showing suport to those on strike by chosing to hold the episodes untill the strike ended. While I am right there with you in wanting more episodes of Avatar to be aired, we have no control over it, and we just need to hang in there and wait on them.
Now the other thing that I want to mention as and adult who enjoys Avatar, it would never be aired on Adult Swim. First off AS has ruined enough of its own created programing, that if I were the one of the Co-creaters of Avatar I would never let them have it. AS was founded on a few funny cartoons, like Family Guy and Futurerama, and anime that AS now almost refuses to air. Anyway, while Avatar does deal with some very heavy themes I think most of you are understemating the intelgence of the youth that also enjoys Avatar.
Just hang in there, it well air at some point the only thing we can do is wait. Nick won’t air it any faster then they want to so just wait and enjoy it when it airs.

I heard that the Friday after episode 13 aired, YTV aired episode 1 book 3 in the same slot. And then next Friday, they aried 2, then 3, then 4 . . .
So, I think it would be a safe bet that the Friday after they air 13 again, they will air 14. By my calculations, that will be April 11th. I could be wrong of course, but it gives me hope, at least

Anyway, maybe the wait is a good thing. I mean, if I had all the episodes to watch all at once, I’d just watch all of them right away and then be depressed that it’s over. By having to wait, I get to enjoy Avatar for longer. Plus, it helps me to detach from the show a little, so I won’t be so depressed once it ends.

I don’t think that they will have a season 4, but I think they’ll probably cover the “Search for Remaining Air Nomads” in the movie. I just don’t think they can leave us with the knowledge that in 3 more cycles, the avatar will be permanantly dead (I mean, if there are no more Air Nomads for the Avatar to be born into when the cycle comes to that, what will happen to their world?)

I am like 80% sure it will air on April 4th or 11th. The avatar always has a three month wait before the second half of the season comes out. Since Avatar ended on like the first week of January or somthing like that, i’m not sure of the date exact date but it was close. Then Avatar will show in April. If it doesn’t show till march (a whole month and one week from now) I will go crazy.

well to debate with acoustic’s comment. I think there is going to be a 4th season of avatar besides the fact of its overwelming success. He has yet to go to the last air temple which I think is the Eastern air temple and that gives hope of finding some air nomads. Another thing too, have you ever stop to think that maybe anng has not mastered airbending. Giving more of a chance to actually find some air nomads. We still have a half of season to go which is great I can’t wait. Oh yeah toph is my FAVORITE. She is really the greatest earth bender in the world.

I agree with Kataang. I do strongly believe that there will be a 4th season. The way its going there might be more the 4 seasons that would be interesting to see how that would turn out. I also agree with kataang about having some patience, just take it easy you know that the episodes are coming out sooner or later. Ofcourse sooner does sound better than later. Now we all know that the writers are taking they’re sweet time with the realeasing of new material. But one would believe that they have good reasons to do this sorta thing to us the avatar faithfulls and to tell you the truth i dont mind because of the simple fact that they have always delivered. Not one single episode has been disapointing. This just gives me more of the notion that the second half of the 3rd season is going to be better than the first half.

This is a question to all avatar lovers. Please leave your own thoughts and speculations. Does anyone remembers in the 1st season the episode where Uncle Iroh gets cought by earth benders while bathing. In that Episode aang is also trying to help this village that is being attack by the heybot the forest spirit. (I apologies if im writing he’s name incorrectly) and the reason that hes attacking is because the forest spirit is upset that people are destroying he’s forest. Anyway half way thru that episode Uncle Iroh is traveling with the earth benders as he’s prisoner. Now everyone knows that while you are in the spirit world that you cannot use bending. Another thing while in the spirit world you’re some what of a ghost meaning that no one can actually see you while you are in the spirit world. Now my question to every one is. How in the hell did Uncle Iroh stared directly at aang while flying above him on Roku’s dragon while still in the spirit world? That was never answered. I thought that question was going to be answered when the episode the firebending masters came out but that just left me with the same desire to know. Why uncle Iroh is the only one that I know so far that can see people in the spirit world? and how did he acquire this ability? If anyone can comment and put there own thoughts that would be most appreciated.

I believe once you’ve been to the spirit world, you can see glimpses of spirits. I forget when but I do believe it was mentioned that Iroh traveled to the spirit world once before. If I’m wrong, I’m sorry.

well to debate with acoustic’s comment. I think there is going to be a 4th season of avatar besides the fact of its overwelming success. He has yet to go to the last air temple which I think is the Eastern air temple and that gives hope of finding some air nomads. Another thing too, have you ever stop to think that maybe anng has not mastered airbending. Giving more of a chance to actually find some air nomads. We still have a half of season to go which is great I can’t wait. Oh yeah toph is my FAVORITE. She is really the greatest earth bender in the world.

Waiting is getting quite annoying. I turned and watched Shakugan No Shana II which decided after about a year and a half (I’m pretty sure) they decided to actually start making the “II” after “I” and it ends next week……. So wtf now SnS is down and Avatar is as good as canceled at the slow as rate they go. New Anime time lol - Any suggestions?

Thank you Bazza654 for your reply is great to hear from a avatar lover. Now lets get to business ZukoDrinksKava is hitting all the right questions. Iroh thru out the 3rd season has not left that cell and then after he’s amazing escape which they don’t even show. They have not shown him since. The dragon of the west holds many many mysteries that I’m going to enjoy unfold has the episodes come along. Iroh is definitely my 2nd favorite character and a very close 2nd i should say to toph. He carries infinite wisdom with allot of comic relief but also not a person to be messing around with. He is one of the selected few fire benders that can use lightning and besides all that I always knew from the beginning that Iroh was a good person at heart. Like ZukoDrinksKava sed maybe in the next few episodes they will talk about Iroh and the spirit world and maybe a little flash back on what he did after he escaped from prison in the episode The day of black sun. We’ll if we don’t see Uncle Iroh at all from now on, hopefully he’s having some cool calming Jasmin tea with he’s beloved lieutenant. I know its 2 years late or so and i have not been in a site with such great people just talking about avatar but I would like to say THANK YOU to the awesome voice of Uncle Iroh the late great Mr. MAKO. He is the true great voice of Iroh. May you rest in peace old friend hope that you have reunited with your beloved.

I hope they have an episode of Iroh meeting Lu Ten in the Spirit world. I would like to know more about Lu Ten.
Zuko is my favorite character. Hes the man! I’m all about second chances. I would like to know if Zuko can create lighting. Surly Zuko will teach Aang to create or a least re-direct lighting since Ozai and Azula are prone to firing lighting in their attacks! Or does Aang already know through the FireBending Master’s demonstration? It will be interesting to see how it unfolds!
I hope they have a little training segment where Zuko spas with Sokka! A duel sword master vs a sword master. That would be pretty cool! Does anyone reckon Pien Dao trained Zuko? Iroh could have organised Pien Dao to train Zuko through the White Lotus Clan??? Without Zuko knowing about the organisation. Im just guessing here hehehe.
Just a guess but wouldn’t it be awesome if in the final episode Aang had to defeat Ozai via an Agni Kai? That would be awesome! My favorite episode in season 1 was episode 3 when Zuko defeats Commander Zhao. Need the ‘chuga chuga’ sound track too hehehe.
Final question…. since Aang is a firebender, shouldn’t he be able to harness the comets power too? With Zuko also??
I know its a pity that the episodes take so long to get out, but hang in there guys! it will be worth it!!!!!

ZukoDrinksKava you are very much a true avatar lover and yes you are right having an episode where Iroh and Lu ten reunite in the sprit world or at least some sort of back story where Iroh is interacting with he’s son would be great. If one could be specific some back story during the invasion of Bazinsey (I apologies if I wrote it wrong) on what happen during the invasion and after the invasion which of course he stops the invasion after 400 days because of he’s mental breakdown after knowing he’s son died. Now to answer your question I believe that Zuko can create lighting but in the past he has had a turmoil that prevented him from creating lighting but I believe he is no longer in conflict with himself which I think is attributed to him finally choosing on the side of good rather than evil. On top of that he did go to the sun warriors temple and learned from the masters teaching Aang and Zuko that fire is not just destruction it is also life. Man I love that episode!!!!!!. So don’t be surprise if you see Zuko sap someone with lighting on the next episode (The boiling rock). ZukoDrinksKava that would be great if you saw Sokka and Zuko go at it in a practice section. The Gim VS the Broadaword Taichi VS Shaolin Hmmmmmmmmmm very interesting. Here another thing ZukoDrinksKava since Sokka is not a bender I have always wanted to see sokka adopt another form of Martial Arts to he’s arsenal And I have always wanted to see if he could learn from Toph. The earth benders style of martial arts is Northern Mantis. (which I’m currently studying now). But toph is the only one that has her own style from every other Bender which is Southern Mantis. Imagine Sokka with some Southern Mantis mixed with he’s Taichi skills that would be simply awesome.

I really do love Avatar! Everything about it from the script, animations, use of historical events (eg Library in the desert looked alot like the taj mahal, sun warriors looked like Aztecs etc), use of different marital arts for different styles of bending, the sound track, the voice characters ( including the many cameos eg George Takei, Mankind, Serena Williams etc) the list goes on! the creators really know what they are doing. I can see by your comments you feel the same too about Avatar!

Well, if Zuko and Aang can generate and redirect lighting, then they would be on par with Iroh, Ozai, Azula and Jeong Jeong. It will make things interesting especially with Aang being able to use Air, Water and Earth so well.
A flash back of Iroh and LuTen would be great! Be good to know more about Iroh and his invasion of Ba Sing Se. I dont know much about martial arts but what you suggested sounds cool! Sokka would be a more formidable force with additional techniques.
I would like to hear anyones thoughts on an Agni Kai showdown between Ozai and Aang. I reckon that would take the cake!
I am sure all our speculation will be answered in due course!

I think that after Boiling Rock, Zuko’s gonna talk to Iroh about Ursa and the greatest trio EVER (Aang, Zuko, and Iroh), will go looking for her. I think that there will be a book four that will sort of be a blend of the search for some Air Nomads, and maybe some rebellious Ozai followers that are still out there. That would be pretty cool, right?

Not sure about a 4th book, after all the title is ‘Avatar: The LAST Airbender’. Surly there is a reason for the title. I reckon they will have a dramatic ending where all conflicts will be resolved but Aangs age may catch up with him in some way and he will end up ultimatly as the last airbender.

The reason they haven’t aired them yet is marketing. Once they air the last few episodes then the show will be done and they will have 6 months afterwards till people forget about the show and move on to the next one and than they can’t sell any more merchandise. So they are making you wait and crave the show so they can sell some more shirts and toys and possibly squeeze out another video game before the end of the show…

i agree with most of you, avatar is the sex and definatly isnt for little kids alone, they dont have the mental capacity nor concentration span nor in depth state of mind the awesomeness of the show requires you to possess.

I guess no avatar today. Don’t worry everyone it will come to us sooner or later. Now to answer ZukoDrinksKava an Agni kai would be an overload of excitement. You would assume that would only be reserve for people of the fire nation but since Aang is a fire bender also, I can definitely see that happening. Also the thought that OK and Agni kai of Aang fighting a person that you have never seen before and the mere thought of just going there could be a bad idea. We have never seen anything else from Ozay except for some lightning that zuko re-directed back to him that’s it. And to have a notion that thats all ozay has to offer. hahaha no no no no. You don’t know if he is proficient with a weapon, you don’t know what type of style he posses. But I’m sure of one thing that when they do meet it’s going to be a great fight. To tell you the truth you know that it’s Anng’s destiny to face the fire lord but if Zuko was to take Anng’s spot that wouldn’t be bad either. Now you know what they should do is create an episode or episodes that focuses on trying to find Zuko’s mother. Her life now and her past life and who knows maybe she’s a bad a$$ her self and in doing that you also open the doors in knowing more about Ozay and he’s past life, maybe before Zuko and Azula where born. Now to answer your last question ZukoDrinksKava I really don’t think that Anng could be ultimately that last air nomad. To have such a great story to end like that .hmmm anything is possible. What about Anng and Katara who knows maybe you’ll see some little air benders running around in a couple of years. What the great Avatar Roku said “being the avatar does not hurt the chances with the ladies”. Now to Answer Anngfan #1 you picks are great. But team avatar would be compose of (Anng, Uncle Iroh and my favorite Toph). “I am the greatest earth bender in the world don’t you 2 thunderheads ever forget it” (TOPH). You have all a great one.

The fact that Ozai can generate lighting tells me quite a lot about his bending abilities. He is a Master FireBender. In book one Iroh said to Zuko before he battled Zhao, “Do you remember what happened last time you duelled a master?”‘ (referring to Ozai) tells me that Ozai is powerful firebender. Lighting is reserved only to the elite firebenders. Therefore we MUST assume that he is skilled in not only lighting generation but also firebending itself! His personality is mirrored to that of Azula. He is sadistic and a sociopath. (Shown through the way he treated his father, wife, brother, his lack of compassion with Lu Tens death and his treatment of Zuko. As you know he scarred him then more recently tried to kill him).
Now is he skilled in weaponry? I dont know. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was. That would make sense if he knew how to work a sword, nunchucks, spear etc. He had all the resources he wanted to train as a skilled armed fighter. however an Agni Kai would rule out the use of weapons. i was just suggesting that would be an amazing final show down. I don’t think Zuko will take down his father as he said “Taking you down is the Avatars destiny” so that suggests to me that it will be Aang who had to defeat the Fire Lord. I just try to read as much as WE are given by the writers.
Now I will stick by my guess that the writers will keep Aang as the last AirBender. I would prefer that Team Avatar finds links to another AirBender but I cant see it happening. I hope i am wrong but i don’t think i will be. It will create a dramatic and concluding finish to the story. we will just have to wait and see.
Hopefully we get to see Boiling Rock on the 18th of April. And I hope its full of BENDING!!!!!!!!!

I’m from Canada. Every night for the last three months I’ve checked on the internet for the next episode in the Avatar series. It has been three months. There is absolutely no reason for that. In three months you would think that they would have had the time to jot down a little something to tell us that they were going to be a little late. Seriously, a week, hell at this point even a month of release would be fine, even if it is just an estimate. All I’m saying is Avatar used to be my favorite show. It’s the only thing that I would look forward to watching on Western Television. Now…I’m not even sure if I’m still a fan. I just don’t like the way they’ve left all of their fans in the dark, y’know?

Also there was no notion from me that all Ozai could do was shoot lighting. Team Avatar, Iroh, Zuko, Azula and everyone knows how powerful Lord Ozai is. This tells the audience that he is a real threat and with the comets power he will be unstoppable (Quoting Avatar Roku). Furthermore, the way he generated lightning was different to that of how Iroh and Azula have demonstrated. I was a horizontal motion, it was quick and devestating. If Zuko wasnt on to it, he would have perished. Ozai’s attack Seemed to generate more force and Zuko was covered in lightning. I think Ozai will be a formidable opponent.

Are you sure? The whole story line revolves around the 100year war and Aang defeating the FireLord before Sozins comet arrives at summers end! the only way they can continue on with additional seasons is if they create a WHOLE new plot and storyline. there has been no indication of this. I will stick to the fact that this is the final season until proof of new seasons is posted. Since day 1 we have been told that there will be 3 seasons Water, Earth and Fire. id like to know where u got your info from in regards to additional seasons. dont get me wrong i love Avatar. I wish that there were more episodes and that they were longer, because its so good. but i honestly cant see another season.
As for Appa being an airbender, yes you caught me on a technicality. But Appa is the last bison that has been seen in 100 years. in book one no one had every seen a flying bison. everyone thought them to be extinct. so how will Appa reproduce offspring air bison? They would have to find another female bison, and they have already been to all 4 air nomad temples! i cant see it happening! but again i wont mind being wrong.

I hope “The Boiling Rock: Part 1″ really airs this Friday! I’ve been waiting forever! I’m not mad at the creators, I’m there is a reason for all this, but it is really annoying to have to wait so long in the middle of a season, and constantly be misinformed about when the next episode will air. On sidereel.com on the avatar section on posts a guy by the name “diegoch” has the most current information about the new episodes. On the newest post he says Ytv (canadian tv) is repeating the whole season and next friday wil air the third episode “the painted lady” and nickelodeon has not put any new info and the schedule is “undefined” but that he’ll keep an eye on the schedule just in case.

I live in LA and I keep getting told from friends who work with or are related to one of the creators that this is the last season of Avatar and that the creators are working hard on the movie but having legal issues. You know other shows are on limited time spans too like Battlestar so it isn’t unheard of that they are going out on there terms. I wish it was going to be around for years but it seems like it is limiting itself. Hope I am wrong, we’ll see.

It is near folks the night next Friday, the time 8 o’clock, the CH Nick. The long overdue Episodes are drawing near and I can’t wait to see them all. I think I’m going to shave my head bald to be more at peace while I wait. LOL. Hopefully this time the date does not magically turns to a different date on another month. Did anyone see the dates in IMDB.com I saw that they are going to jam pack 8 Episodes in about 4 weeks. Is this correct?
I mean I don’t mind but if I remember correctly the boiling rock part 1 and 2 are going to be aired on the same night then the next two individually and then the last four in one night. Again is this true? I think that if it is true that the last four Episodes airing in a row sounds like a great idea have a great 2 hour movie like season finally. Now to answer ZukoDrinksKava you are right Ozay seems to be much faster than Iroh and Azula at generating lighting. That in it’s self makes him very dangerous. Now let’s jump to the last four episodes which is when the comet arrives. Are we going to see a massive invasion army? Because in the two part episode The day of black sun the invasion team was not that big it was a small team and from I remember they had only a couple of water benders which were from what I remember from the swamp and virtually just one bender from the water tribe which is Katara and that in itself is funny. The northern water tribe is packed full of water benders and none of them came for the ride and Katara being the only water bender in the southern water tribe was present and on the thick of things during the invasion. One would think that the northern water tribe will be present during the arrival of the comet.
In the last episodes that are to come and having the unconceivable thought that what ZukoDrinksKava says could be true. That there is not going to be a 4th season of avatar you start to think about where the other characters fit in and where have they’ve been, like are we ever going to see Jeong Jeong again? He’s in one episode and that was it. He’s one of the most powerful fire bender in the fire nation and what he displayed in the only episode that he was in was incredible dare to say more powerful than Zuko. And even Jeong Jeong being a fire bending master was going thru some turmoil of he’s own. Believing that fire bending was just destruction and in coming to this conclusion decided to leave the fire nation later named Jeong Jeong The Deserter. But you know if Zuko could change he’s ways and also understood that fire itself is life I believe that Jeong Jeong could also come to that realization that fire bending can be a great gift and maybe or better put hopefully we will see him soon. I would love to see him kicking A$$ and taking names.
I would also would love to see everyone from the fire nation that is on the side of good which is not that many. Iroh, Zuko and Jeong Jeong and not to mention Sokka’s master he is also from the fire nation and not to mention not to bad with the sword. He also gave Sokka the white lotus tile. I can’t wait to see him use it hopefully its not something stupid like get out of jail free card. LOL. I think I wrote enough for once.

Wow! I just checked out IMDB.com and they are question marks next to all but the last 4 episodes. Staying positive is sort of my thing and I’ll read some postings of people complaining and I’ll say to my self JUST WAIT it will come soon but this is just getting on my nerve. Just when you think that the date is official they go ahead and change it again. I’m jumping on the boat with everyone that thinks is not right. I’m down right frustrated because if this is a marketing ploy to get more fans and money you know what that just might backfire. instead of giving the fans what they want they just ignore us. it is because of us that the show is famous. hopefully this people will realize this before is too late.

The DVD release dates for Western Air Temple, Firebending Masters, Boiling Rock 1 and 2 is May 5th. So we know that Boiling Rock will air before May 5th. They would never release the DVD’s before it airs.
The final DVD release which consists of Southern Raiders, Ember Isle Players and the 2 hour finale Sozins Comet is due to be released on July 5th so we know that these episode will air a least a month before the DVD set is released.

Although i hope you’re right regarding the release dates, but from a monetization standpoint I think letting the DVD release be the first release be the best move. So many would pre-order it or stand in line freezing outside best buy or something half the night. That’s what I would do if i was greedy.

Let me just tell you that Boiling Rock was planning to air May 2nd, but it was moved back to May 8th because of a Zoey 101 movie, Chasing Zoey. I know that all of you, and most of the world, would rather see Avatar. But the Writer’s Strike hurt us at Nick badly. I have not been informed if there will be a book 4. Nickelodeon is begging for Mike DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko to make a book 4 because we at Nick are running out of shows (have you seen “the Mighty B”?). Please try to be patient. I have seen the Boiling Rock. It is well worth the wait. I have also seen Sozin’s Comet: Parts 3 and 4. You guys are in for a treat. Please try to understand and be patient. You will get Avatar back.

Man, this is taking forever. I have heard countless release dates. Maybe they have finished the anime but just did not release it because of marketing. The time between the last episodes is getting ridiculous, though. If they do not air the next episodes soon, people will get really annoyed and not watch Avatar anymore. I am even on the brink of giving up the whole series.

Book 4 will be called the air temples it’ll probably be about aang finding the air nomads because air nomads are known for traveling the world not staying in the air temples.

So I have a couple questions:
1) In one of the chapters I think the one with the Guru, He tells Aang that the boundries between the elements is only imagined and in the chapter with the swamp one of the guys says everything is connected… Do you think that maybe Aang will try to teach the others how to bend the other elements?
2) It doesn’t seem like Aang knows about Zuko and Zuko about Aang. Will they share their info and does that make Aang part of the happy little royal family back in the fire nation?
3) If Zuko and Azula are bro and sis why is Zuko the only one with an identity crisis? Shouldn’t Azula be having one too? And if she is supposed to be but isn’t wouldn’t that mean that she at the very least isn’t born of Zuko’s Mom?
4) Will Iroh still be good? Zuko didn’t exactly treat him nicely when he was in prison and if he captures Aang wouldn’t that “restore his honor” in the fire Nation? If he is still a good guy will he join up with and Aang and teach him some new fire bending that Zuko doesn’t even know? Also Iroh has already said back in the Earth Nation that Zuko would be even more powerful if he could let his hate go and find his own destiney, now that Zuko has could that make him as powerful as his father or at least Azula?

I’m a little confused. I mean, between wrong release dates and incorrect tv guide info, it’s almost impossible to actually watch Avatar when/if it’s broadcast. It’s like they’re deliberately leaving us no choice - either rabidly pursue leaked episodes and pirated downloads or skip Avatar altogether.
I’m not 13, okay, I don’t have time to sit by the TV until they decide to show it! Why make it so hard to watch? If they have to rewrite the ending to open it up for the future movies, I wish they’d just say so.

1) Maybe, but they lack his spiritual acumen and natural gift for bending. It might not work.
2) How are they related again? Second cousin? Aang would probably fit into it the same way Roku or Iroh do, as a sort of attache with a good chance of getting killed by a family member.
3) Azula admitted she was hurt that good people found her monstrous. She got her mom banished and told Zuko she was dead, seems like she would have chosen which urge to follow at that point. Younger than Zuko’s crisis age, but she always was a prodigy.
4) Due to circumstances beyond creative control, Iroh will probably have a minimal role from here on out. He’s undoubtedly retired to a small island in the Southern Earth Kingdom with Zuko’s mom.

If the release date for the last couple of episodes are in fact on May 8th then if what is said above that Nick will not sell the dvd before airing the episodes then we can also assume that the dvd will be delayed until May 8th or afterward. This may also be a convenient marketing plan ,though was not expected, to make more money by selling the dvd first then airing the episodes or and what i think is more likely is they just delay the release of the dvd. Finally to answer SimpleThingsInLife’s questions with my thoughts:
1)I think it would defeat the purpose if aang tried to teach the others how to bend all the elements because what would the world need the avatar for. the avatar can bend all four elements to put balance in the world, if everyone could do this there would be no need for a avatar.
2)I think that zuko and aang might share info with each other but considering how many episodes are left before the big fight then it would seem they would do it during training, after the fight with the fire lord, or they never would. As for aang being part of the royal family that is a maybe it would be hard to say because on one hand the last avatar is connected to the royal family but since aang is not actually related to the last avatar only a reincarnation it would be hard to say.
3)azula isnt having a identity crisis i think because she maybe be messed up in the head or she simple likes being a person to hurt others. while on the other hand zuko never really had anything but capture the avatar and when he was deemed a traitor he was confused about who he was and then throwing his only real family, uncle iro, in prison porbally just got him more confused.
4)i think iro will most definatly be good though he hopes zuko will make the right choice to help the avatar restore balance since he is all about balance i mean thats how he learned that one fire bending technique, from the water benders, to reflect lightning. After leaving the fire nation to help the avatar i think we can assume that he no longer thinks capturing the avatar will bring his honor back that he has to make his own honor. I also dont think that iro will meet zuko and aang and teach him a new fire bending technique, if iro joins the group it will be during the final battle to help the avatar defeat the fire lord. since zuko has let go of his hatred in may make him more powerful than azula right away but he will most likely not be better than his father until he is older, way older.

book 3 volume 3 contains “The Day of Black Sun, Part 2: The Eclipse”, “The Western Air Temple”, “The Firebending Masters”, “The Boiling Rock, Part 1″, “The Boiling Rock, Part 2″ and is still scheduled to be realeased the 6th may. So the next eps must air on either on the 25th april or the 2nd may, so hopefully we’ll get to see them soon

hey, the best place to check is nick.com, they have a section for avatar. I think there would either be posted when the next avatar will air or if the series gets cancelled, either way, we can predict that it is not because of that section specifically for avatar. Also, on the Avatar message board, there are tons of people asking when the next one is going to air. Nick wouldn’t cancel a show that everyone wants to see.

WOW amazing and let me tell you I was going oh, ohhh, ohhhhhhhh that’s how good the trailer was. It was like I started where I left of. yall have to be patient. and some of yalls questions can be answered in the commentaries and interviews on the DVDs. The movie rumer is true. and the director/writer is none other than M. Night Shamalayan, if thats how you spell it, the same who wrote, Signs, Unbreakable, The Lady in the Water, and most recently The Happening. In other words, the movie is going to be kick a$$. This came from an interview with the co-creators and Shamalayan in the bonus featrues on Season 1 or 2, i cant remembered.
I’ve also heard a rumor about the reason why they havn’t showed any thing is because peaple have been ileagly downloading from the internet and thats costing them money.
If yall need something else to make the time off Avatar, i strongly, strongley, strongly sugest to check out www.homestarrunner.com, or possibly going to see the kick a$$ Iron Man movie comming to theaters on May 2. or you could actually see the bounus materials on the DVD’s all the way through. and the writers say in the comentary in DVD book 3 episode 10 day of black sun part 1: the invasion, when aang makes out with Katara, they say that the fans have split, half for a kataang, and the other for a zukara. in my personal opionion, zuko is too old for katara. and Sokka is my favorite character, its just a pity they diddnt make him a bender.
also i belive that aang will have to kill Azula along with Fire Lord Ozi. coz zuko is an out cast and has now officaly been disowned by ozi and ozi will problay put it in his will that zuko will not be fire lord and it should bend the rules and let Azula be fire lordess?? but i also belive that iroh can now whup azula’s butt.

Patience is several weeks between episodes during the on-season, or several months during the off-season. Sometimes, waiting is good, like when there’s a cliff-hanger at the end of a season that will lead into a new story-arc. Patience is not waiting four months in the middle of a season. That is insanity.
The writer’s strike had nothing to do with this delay. It didn’t effect the creators Avatar.
We know who Night Shyamalan is, and it’s because we know who he is that we’re worried he’ll screw up one of our favorite shows. He is vastly overrated. Not a single one of his movies are considered “artistically significant.” They’re just mediocre crowd-pleasers.
One of the biggest myths about downloading is that it robs the company of money. It does not. The vast, vast majority of downloaders wouldn’t or couldn’t buy the things they download. Their exposure to the show or music comes from this “stolen” music. And of course, once they are invested in the story and characters, they are more likely to buy other merchandise (plushies, bags, posters, etc). And you know it’s partly because of Viacom’s stupidity in this matter that I DO NOT buy anything from them.
As far as Iron Man goes, it’s also going to be an action-packed, thrilling, superhero, see-once, mediocre, crowd-pleaser. The reason we live Avatar is because it is NOT mediocre.
My stance is that Nick is treating it’s greatest asset - the fans - like crap by giving us so little information about their most successful show, moving the dates around and sometimes neglecting to even notify us when this happens. Perhaps it is a desperate ploy to get people to tune in, but if it is, it’s a poorly imagined one. The majority of the people aren’t going to care when it airs as much as they care when they can find it online.
However, I’m not living by what happens concerning the show. I make the rounds and check online for updated and reliable news every couple of weeks. The longer this goes on without any news, though, the less often I find myself caring to check. Too much longer, and the show’s fan base is going to start withering away.

I watched the entire first, second, and third (to chapter 13) over the weekend and I have fallen in love with the show…Literally obsessed. And I want Aang and Katara to get together!! GAHHH…I thought the episode with the hallucinations was really funny..
I am so obsessed that I say the theme “song” at school and Im in 9th grade for crying out loud!! I feel strongly about it and it made me depressed watching it beccause their world is SO much more exciting than ours and i WISH i could bend…(my friends think im off my rocket )…how do i get rid of this obsession?

I didn’t read every comment but I did read a few and I’d have to say I’m a bit surprised myself that the episodes air in other countries before America…like isn’t avatar made in Florida…or California…I think it’s Florida ’cause that’s were Nickelodeon studios is…so…
any who…I mean I’ve watched some of the episodes online like Avatar: The Last Airbender - Book 3 Episode 13 “The Firebending Masters” not to long ago…ok a while a go -sigh- but the only reason I was able to watch it was because some kid from Norway posted it…I think it was Norway.
And the avatar series has done this b4…the funny thing is they tend to do it just b4 the end of a series or just when it’s getting good. They stretch out the release time and then air it on some random day and every one is all -la gasp- since when has this been here?

i agree, they wait to long for a sigal episode to come out. if anyone watches anime (shippuden or bleach or any on going seris) then you know that theres a new episode every week, sometimes two episodes a week. the creators shouldnt take 9months to make a singal cartton, when japan crators can make a signal cartoon in 1 week!

i may be the only one here that doesent have cable or dish, just old school broadcast with and aireal tv atteanna, that will lose reception in 2009. And i have dail up so i cant watch anything online. i have to go to the local library, or wait until it comes out on DVD. my real entertainment is blowing crap up. the only thing i like about the chinease is gun powder. how can u be bored when you have an actual cannon, i dont know. no joke, i have a makeshift cannon out of street pipe. and, exuse me if i sound like an idiot, but what is comcast?

When I found this website by searching for The Boiling Rock it was 10:00pm about.
It’s now 11:41pm and I’ve read every single post on this site.
I didn’t know I was capable of doing that, but I guess it goes to show how anxious I am to see the upcoming conclusion to Book 3.
And a little insight for you all…
Fire bending is the shit.
Air bending is pretty cool.
Earth bending is visually awesome and empowering.
AND… Water bending is for girls.
And yeah, I’m going to bring it up.
I love Zuko more than anything else on the show. He is the banished Fire Prince. He fights with two swords. He is a fire bender. He is SICK.
But this whole Aang and Katara vs. Zuko and Katara thing going around needs to stop.
Zuko is in every single way a thousand times cooler than our 12-year-old prebuscent Avatar friend, but I would be damn right pissed if Katara and Zuko have something going on in these upcoming episodes. From the trailer I saw posted on here it looked like Aang, once again, attempted to kiss Katara but this time she backed away, and a few scenes later in the trailer, she’s seen hugging Zuko.
That would ruin the entire show for me.

Hello Everyone,
Hellooooo Avatar lovers how are you today? When I posted the trailer I was very excited at the time for the simple fact that I finally got to see something. One of the best moments in the trailer was actually seeing Zukos mom which it looks like we are probably going to see her in present time for the first time and let me tell you one thing she does not look particularly happy. She is also shown with fire in the background. I have always had this notion that she her self was a powerful fire bender but every time they have shown her in past tense she has always given the impression of being very loving and caring especially towards Zuko. Also remember someone taught someone blood bending and it looks like she is using this technique in the trailer. You also see the dragon coming out in the middle of the trailer ohhhhh man I can see it now appa tag teaming with one of the masters that would be fantastic and of course suki is shown in the trailer after what 14 Episodes more or less and not only that she looks like she has become more of a bad a$$ than ever before. Now, I did not see Uncle Iroh and the people that know me know that uncle Iroh is a close second only to toph on my favorite meter. I think that he is really a unique character that offers a lot to the story line. I also didn’t see jeong jeong I would have love to see him at least one episode before the series concludes. Now I should not be doing this because I am someone that likes to see everything in order that way I can better understand the story. BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Since I have not seen avatar in a while there is actually about 7 minutes worth of footage of the ember isle player’s episode on you tube. It’s funny as hell they recap about probably the whole 3 seasons in about 7 minutes but in a play. The actors are from the fire nation in fire nation territory. It shows how everything started and how they met certain people. Again very funny but there is a problem since they showed this in the comic con in New York city the sound is not all that great but good enough. well here you go.

Hey, SouthernMantis. I came all the way from the UK to go to the New York comic con, and was really looking forward to seeing the Avatar panel. I only went and missed it after all that waiting. Went to the Nickalodian stand and the people there couldnt be any less helpful. Didnt have a clue about release dates.

Wow! A couple months ago this site use to post a lot of great interesting comments on a day to day basis but the last couple of weeks no one has been posting like in months past. I wonder why? Is it because people are getting sick of this run around with the release dates or is it my imagination. Fine the movie is coming out in 2010 the writers are probably sharing they’re input with Shyamalan and I know that they are going to make or are making 3 60 minutes specials for nick but what that has to do with the remaining episodes. It’s not like the episodes are in development. The episodes are done and ready to be released. Hey! Here’s a radical new idea why don’t you just give the people what they want. Now hopefully the release date for the DVD is correct which is the 29th of July. Now that means that the release dates for the show should be before the release of the DVD. Just remember that Toph is the greatest earth bender in the world don’t you ever forget it.

It seems fairly clear that Nickelodeon’s executives or someone with power - but little else - merely wants to toy with the fans and/or destroy whatever positive perceptions they may have for the series. If so, it is a truly sad comment on effects of business on art in any form. Avatar, as one of the few really unique and valuable entertainment productions with sophisticaton, richness and humor, should be given at least a modicum of respect instead of being made the subject of corporate manipulation. Of course, that is just my personal opinion.

Well said, though I doubt that everyone knows what you meant by that. So I will put it in simple terms for the younger viewers- Avatar is a rare series where Nick actually makes something worth watching, but the people at Nick who are in control of production of Avatar mess around with it as well as us. They should take their show as well as its viewers a little more seriously. I agree with WaterMarginMan with this statement and support this opinion.
