The Last Airbender - Movie Review - The Last Shyamalan
Tuesday, July 13th, 2010Wow, 2 years since I, the firelord, wrote on my blog last. I’ve been busy doing my best to restore the destruction of my predecessor. Anyhow, things are finally calming down and I went to see a movie recently to wind down and to my surprise I found this movie about me and my friend, how exciting, fun, and thrilling, all at once!…so I tought…
First of, don’t go and see it. It is really bad, really, I mean it. Night Shyamalan is overrated. The only movie I enjoyed watching, was Unbreakable. There have been two movies I had initially enjoyed watching, but then the more I thought of them, the stupider they became. The Sixth Sense, and The Lady in the Water.
For example, in the Sixth Sense, how could he not notice that he was dead? Did he never go to the grocery store and try to pay for a sandwich or something and notice that the clerk, quite literally, didn’t seem to make notice of him? This is just one example, there are so many stupid things about this movie. They should simply just rename this movie to The Sixth Movie-That-Doesn’t-Make Sense.
The Lady In the Water, I think is a neat and compelling story concept, but the script isn’t coherent enough for a major motion picture.
Okey, enough with this, three-movie-reviews-in-one, and back to air bending.
So, The Last Airbender is a total fiasco. Everything about it is bad except for the visual effects. I so wanted this movie to be good and I’m trying to find good things to say about it, but there simply are none. Here’s a bullet point list of the things that are wrong.
- Too slow. Things are happening to slowly and in weird ways. To much boring kungfu hand movements.
- bad acting and Bad Acting and BAD ACTING. Come-on Night, were did you find that Pakku who easily puts on the worst acting performance in the movie. Aang was a pretty poor choice as well.
- Script. Night, you’ve to stop being so damn arrogant and start taking criticism. How can someone read the dialogues and not gag? The animation series were funny, witty, action packed and exciting. Night must, as it seems, have tried his best to produce a boring, dull, dead-boring, and dead-dull script on purpose.
- Same voidness of coherence and common sense as all his other movies (except Unbreakable).
Save humanity from another Shyamalan movie, he only got lucky with Unbreakable. This is the last Night movie I’ll be watching. There was a comment on Rotten Tomatoes to this movie that simply said:
“The Last Shyamalan”
Spot on! and thanks Night for totally ruining a movie that had so much potential and momentum behind it…you’re banished from the Fire Kingdom forever
