Benefits of Having a Central Humidifier In Your Home

We’ve all experienced dehydration- a dry mouth, increased thirst and dizziness to name a few symptoms. To remedy that, we drink fluids and it doesn’t take too long before we start feeling ourselves again.

Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for your house. Every time you turn on your AC, your home and health are under strain from all that excess air.

Inevitably, you need something that can remedy that. Just as we need a nutritional balance in a diet to keep healthy, our houses are in need of a balance in humidity levels to keep it robust. On the one hand, a house with too much moisture in the air can cause mold to grow in damp areas and also attract unwanted insects. However, if your home lacks enough moisture it not only leads to possible health issues but may lead to unnecessary costs in damage repairs.

So how do you keep humidity levels at a balance? We suggest using a central humidifier in your home, and here’s why.

1. Your Health

Too much time in air conditioning environments can cause health issues: dry sinuses, breathing problems and an increase in allergy symptoms to name the least. It can also lead your skin to lose moisture, in effect leading to dry skin. A central air humidifier can alleviate respiratory problems by conditioning the amount of moisture in the air.

2. Your House

Pretty much everything made of wood in your house contains some moisture. However, over time, dry air sucks that moisture resulting in your furniture cracking and shrinking. Ever noticed that uncomfortable zap from a static shock as your reach for the light switch? Those random static shocks can be avoided by installing a central humidifier. The water particles in the humid air break static charges more rapidly.

Central Humidifier vs. Portable Humidifiers
Central Humidifiers Portable Humidifiers
Typically attached to a duct system and thus it can provide properly moisturized air to your entire home. Typically limited to the room they are installed in.
As the units are connected to the homes plumbing unit, it requires minimal maintenance. Requires filling the water reservoir to ensure that the humidifier has enough water to keep indoor humidity at a balance.
No noise pollution. May prove bothersome as it produces noise from the fan.
Operated affordably and efficiently. Consumes more energy and some top portable humidifiers come at very expensive price tags.
Requires a professional to install the humidifier. Does not require expert skill or professional installation.
What is the best central humidifier?

There are a few different types of humidifiers. Which one you go for depends on your household needs. In our opinion, investing in a good central humidifier is a no-brainer. We’ve tested many central humidifiers and from experience, the Aprilaire humidifiers have proven to minimize the ill effects of dry air, save energy as well as protect the homes furniture and hardwood floor.
