AC Troubleshooting: Your Questions Answered

Keep checking back here to get updates on useful tips into how you can manage and improve your HVAC system. If you are unsure of any of the following questions then keep reading to find out how your questions can be answered.

It is a common misconception people make when noticing warm air from their AC units, and automatically presume there is a defect in their AC system. There are some steps you can take first in order to fix this problem. If the problem continues to persist, seek professional assistance, as it may need expert service. For a quick fix solution to this issue check the answers below.

Step 1: Assess Your Thermostat Settings

If you find your AC is blowing out warm air instead of cool, then check your thermostat settings to see whether it is set to ‘Auto’ or ‘On’. If you find it is switched ‘On’ it means that your AC is constantly running regardless of whether your home is on its cooling or heating cycle. To avoid this issue then turn your AC to Auto.

Step 2: Change Air Filter

If the problem continues to persist even after changing your thermostat settings, then it is likely that your Air filter needs changing. The air filter in your AC system shields your air conditioner by preventing dirt and debris from the air to access the fan. If you don’t change your air filter and leave it over its recommended life span, it gets clogged up with dirt, which limits the airflow to the air conditioner.

As a result the condenser unit will encounter problems when freezing up, preventing the Air Conditioner from cooling air.

Step 3: Get Your Condenser Cleaned

The last resort and most important would be to get your condenser cleaned. The outer part of your air conditioner system has a condenser unit fitted. If the condenser coils get dirty it prevents your AC cooling your air hence why you feel there is warm air being emitted. In order to maintain ultimate productivity the condenser coils need annual cleaning.

It would be recommended to cut back any weeds or anything else causing obstruction from the outside of your condenser unit that may be blocking the airflow. There should be 24 inch space all around your unit- included the top.

If you notice dirt outside the unit and it has been a while since your last AC tune up, then it is recommended to get a maintenance visit in order to carry out a professional check up and clean up on your system.
